‘Homeland'? Sold It, Gone! (Tr: 'Memleket’ mi? Sattık, Gitti!)

 The structure known as the "TRNC" continues to be a place where international law is disregarded, and only jungle laws prevail. It's becoming a backyard where major powers dump all their dirt, and day by day, it's being dragged into an even worse state before our very eyes.

And yet, we still continue to whisper "homeland" with feeble voices. Yes, "homeland"...

But soon, it will be a homeland that doesn't belong to Cypriots anymore! Cyprus is being sold off right before our eyes, and we're just watching the sale of our "homeland" without doing anything. Remember, sometimes remaining silent in the face of a crime is to become complicit in that crime.

"If it's not officially annexed, let's buy it with money instead."

Half a century ago, the properties of Greek Cypriots seized in the north of the island through Turkey's intervention were initially given to Turkish Cypriots who migrated from the south as "equivalent properties" for shelter.

However, as the number of people coming from Turkey continued to increase, in 1994, an amendment was made to the "IMIT Law," and title deeds for Greek Cypriot properties in the north of the island began to be issued under the guise of the "TRNC title deed."

Before this change, only "usage certificates" could be issued for immovable properties, just like how Greek Cypriots who want to live on Turkish Cypriot properties remaining in the south are only given "usage certificates" now...

So, shall we take a look together at the new 'legal guise' that came 30 years after this legislative change, which feels like an unofficial annexation of the north of the island?

"... Citizens of the Republic of Turkey and legal entities under the citizenship of states that recognize the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and grant the same right to the citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus may be granted permission to purchase 3 apartments through the same method..."

I was curious, which states recognize the "TRNC" apart from Turkey? Why the need to phrase it like this? Are you trying to cover up the fact, dear UBP members, that the island will actually be sold to Turkey, despite the fact that the support of the Turkish Embassy for the bill and its significant role in its preparation are not concealed...

Another point that caught my attention: What will a person do with the right to buy three apartments? There's no possibility of living in three apartments at the same time. So why are others given so much right to buy property in our lands?

Is the issue really about 'shelter', do you think? Sit down and think about it thoroughly. The claims of 'Turkification' being thrown around don't sound so absurd now, do they?

I can't count how many war crimes and human rights violations are being ignored in the north of the island anymore...

Because their numbers continue to increase day by day. Vultures feeding on the spoils of the rentier system have gathered around us.

They've become so accustomed to the rentier system, so blinded by the money it brings, that they can't yet realize that they're selling their own homeland, their own nests, and facilitating it. They think this rentier system will continue like this forever...

But the day will come when the tables turn, and there will be no land left to sell to foreigners... You'll be at a loss where to turn.

"Homeland? Sold it, gone!"

Uluslararası hukukun yok sayıldığı, sadece orman kanunlarının geçerliği olduğu, içine gireni sindiren bir yapı olmaya devam ediyor ‘kktc’

Büyük devletlerin tüm pisliklerini döndürdükleri bir arka bahçe burası, günden güne de gözlerimizin önünde daha kötü bir noktaya sürükleniyor.

Bizler de hala, sadece cılız bir sesle ‘memleket’ diye sayıklamaya devam ediyoruz. Evet, ‘memleket’…

Ama yakında Kıbrıslıların olmayacak bir memleket! Kıbrıs, gözlerimizin önünde parsel parsel satılıyor; bizler de hiçbir şey yapmayarak sadece ‘memleketimizin’ satılmasını izliyoruz. Unutmayın, bazen bir suç karşısında susmak, o suça ortak olmaktır.

“Resmi olarak ilhak olmuyorsa, bari parayla satın alalım”

Bundan yarım asır önce, Türkiye’nin müdahalesi ile adanın kuzeyinde el konulan Kıbrıslırum malları, önce adanın güneyinden göç eden Kıbrıslıtürklere, barınabilmeleri için “eşdeğer mal” olarak verildi.

Ancak Türkiye’den gelen nüfusun sayısı gün geçtikçe arttığı için 1994’te “İTEM Yasası”nda değişikliğe gidilerek adanın kuzeyindeki Kıbrıslırum malları için ‘kktc koçanı’ verilmeye başlandı.

Bu değişiklikten önce, taşınmaz mallara sadece “tasarruf belgesi” verilebiliyordu, tıpkı şu an güneyde kalan Kıbrıslıtürk mallarında yaşamak isteyen Kıbrıslırumlara sadece “tasarruf belgesi” verildiği gibi…

Peki, bu yasa değişikliğinden tam 30 yıl sonra gelen, adanın kuzeyinin resmi olmayan bir ilhakı tadında olan, yeni ‘yasal kılıfa’ birlikte bakalım mı?

“… Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’ni tanıyan ve aynı hakkı Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti yurttaşlarına veren devletlerin tabiiyetinde olan gerçek veya tüzel kişilerin, aynı yöntemle 3 adet apartman satın alma izni verilebilir…”

Merak ediyordum da ‘kktc’yi tanıyan devletler hangileri? Türkiye dışında kim tanıyor ‘kktc’yi? Neden bu şekilde yazma gereği duyuldu acaba? Örtmeye mi çalışıyorsunuz yoksa, adanın aslında Türkiye’ye satılacağı gerçeğini, sayın UBP vekilleri? TC Elçiliği’nin tasarıyı hem desteklediği hem de hazırlanmasında önemli rol aldığı gizlenmiyor oysa…

Bir de şu noktası dikkatimi çekiyor: bir kişi üzerine üç konut alıp ne yapacak? Üç konutta aynı anda oturma ihtimali yok. Peki, neden bizlerin topraklarında, başkalarına bu kadar konut alma hakkı veriliyor?

Konu gerçekten ‘barınma’ mı sizce? Oturun ve üzerine iyice düşünün. Ortaya atılan ‘Türkiyeleştirme’ iddiaları o kadar da absürt duyulmuyor şimdi, değil mi?

Adanın kuzeyinde kaç tane savaş suçu, kaç tane insan hakları ihlali görmezden geliniyor sayamıyorum artık…

Çünkü gün geçtikçe sayıları artmaya devam ediyor. Rant düzeninden beslenen akbabalar doluşmuş etrafımıza.

O kadar bir alışmışlar ki rant düzenine, oradan gelen para o kadar bir kör etmiş ki gözlerini, kendi memleketlerini, kendi yuvalarını sattıklarını, buna aracı olduklarını henüz algılayamıyorlar. Bu rant düzeni hep böyle devam edecek sanıyorlar…

Ama gün gelir devran döner, yabancılara satacak toprak da kalmaz elde… Başınızı nereye sokacağınızı şaşırırsınız.

We Are Moving Away from Solving the Mixed Marriage Problem! (Tr: Karma Evlilik Sorununa Çözüm Bulmaktan Uzaklaşıyoruz!)

 With the movement we started approximately 2.5 years ago, the mixed marriage problem has occupied the agenda both in the north and south of Cyprus. Earlier this year, although it did not satisfy most Turkish Cypriots, the 14-point package announced by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Hristodoulides, for Turkish Cypriots included the mixed marriage problem as well. From my perspective, this was a significant move because it showed that the government of the Republic of Cyprus was not indifferent to this issue and was open to working with us. But unfortunately, we could not and still cannot make good use of this "invitation." Some politicians in the north of our island have little knowledge about this issue, and sometimes, for their political interests, they use incorrect arguments , making us appear quite unsympathetic in the eyes of the public in the Republic of Cyprus.
