Hezbollah's Threat to Cyprus: Is Cyprus Really In Danger? (Tr: Hizbullah'ın Kıbrıs Tehditi: Kıbrıs Gerçekten Tehlikede mi?)

Hezbollah's Threat to Cyprus: Is Cyprus Really In Danger? Last week, Cyprus's agenda was rocked by Hezbollah's statement: "If Cyprus opens its airports or bases to Israel, it will become a target of Hezbollah." Most in Cyprus interpret this in the context of aid provided from British bases to Israel, arguing that "the aid was provided by sovereign British bases; Cyprus has no say in British bases and cannot be held accountable." Although it's a known fact that Hezbollah's statements extend beyond just British bases, let's put that aside for now... Do we really have no words to say, no power to stop this military aid from Cyprus? International law actually suggests we are not powerless... The Treaty Establishing the Republic of Cyprus No. 5476, signed in 1960, granted sovereignty over Akrotiri and Dhekelia bases to Britain. This 'sovereignty' means that Britain has full authority and control over these areas independent of the Republ...

All Societies Live the Fate They Deserve (Tr: Tüm Toplumlar Hak Ettiği Kaderi Yaşar)

All Societies Live the Fate They Deserve I don't know where to begin. Right now, I'm trying to find the motivation to continue by piecing together tiny grains of hope. I am sad and angry. I could foresee the possibility of this scenario happening; but I worked hard to prevent it, always trying to stay positive. But I can no longer do it... Let's start locally... While there were over 100,000 Turkish Cypriots eligible to vote, only about 5,600 people voted. This corresponds to a rate of about five percent. Only this five percent wanted to claim our voice in the international arena... The remaining ninety-five percent, as if wanting to please Ersin Tatar, did not go to vote. If you hear an argument like, "See, Turkish Cypriots want to lean on Turkey, not the EU," don't be surprised... We already couldn't elect the Turkish Cypriot leader who represents us; we had lost our will in the north of the island due to interventions. By not participating in perhaps...

Quarter to the EU Elections: 'The Time Has Come' to Correct The Misconceptions That Are Known To Be True (Tr: AB Seçimlerine Çeyrek Kala: Doğru Bilinen Yanlışları Düzeltmenin 'Zamanı Geldi')

Quarter to the EU Elections: It's Time to Correct Common Misconceptions With a week left until the European Parliament elections, this campaign period is turning out to be quite competitive, especially since, for the first time, three Turkish Cypriot candidates are running from different parties. However, the competition doesn't always progress in a 'measured' manner. Some are more focused on discrediting their opponents rather than promoting their own policies. These tactics, employed solely to win a 'seat', could be harmful to our future, a fact often overlooked... Firstly, I'd like to remind you that when you vote in the EU elections, you're not only voting for your local party but also for political groups within the EU. In short, it is crucial to research the political group of the candidate or party you support locally. Your candidate might present a different propaganda during the election period but might act differently once elected, surprising ...
